Fan Theories Wiki

This page lists fan theories about the television series Bob's Burgers

Bob's entire family is dead[]

According to Reddit user u/geargirl,The user who created this theory,Bob is the only living member of the Belcher family, and the reason the other characters are present is because Bob is having a psychotic break. As seen in Season 1, Episode 1, the restaurant is reopening for the fourth time, following a series of tragic accidents, which are seen briefly in the opening of every episode. With each accident, one of the Belcher kids dies; however, Bob loses it beforehand with Linda's death.

after Linda died, Bob opens the restaurant and decides to have it near the funeral home because he can't let her go. This lack of acceptance leads to him hallucinating Linda around the restaurant. Furthermore Mort, the mortician, frequents the restaurant because he is aware of Bob's delusions and wants to check in on him.Bob further loses a grasp on reality with the loss of his kids,

starting with Louise. The theory claims a fire was started by Louise and led to her death. The notion that Louise started the fire makes sense given her chaotic personality; furthermore, Bob tells Tina at a point that he doesn't trust Louise with the grill. The theory even explains why Louise, or in this case the hallucination of her, is so prone to chaos. Because Bob had trouble reeling her in while she was alive, this character flaw is magnified in the hallucination. He also focuses on the defining traits of his other children when it comes to their hallucinations. The theory claims, as a joke,

Gene releases the rats that were part of an infestation, but this leads to one biting him, and Gene dies from infection. Because his death is tied to a poorly executed, innapropriate prank, Bob hallucinates Gene as jokester with a weird sense of humor.

Tina is the last to die, being electrocuted by a collapsing telephone pole that crashes into the front of the restaurant. Her death is also the basis for her attraction to zombies,Because Tina witnessed her father get lost in his delusions before her death, her personality has become awkward since she never learned to cope with tragedy. She also fails to connect with the others in the household because, unlike Bob, she doesn't see them, so when she dies, Bob imagines her to be even more awkward and out of place.

Evidence/Points[]

To support their theory, u/geargirl points out how the first three episodes of Bob's Burgers focus on how Bob deals with death and stress, with Season 1, Episode 1 featuring Linda's ex-boyfriend Hugo targeting Bob's restaurant as a health inspector, presumably harboring animosity towards Bob because he blames him for her death.

Season 1, Episode 2 shows how mentally unstable Bob is, with him retreating into the walls of the restaurant and imagining Louise's toy, Kuchi Kopi, talking to him. This episode also introduces Teddy, who, according to this theory, is the one who actually runs the restaurant with Bob, indulging in his fantasies until he needs to call Linda's parents to talk some sense into him.

Finally, Season 1, Episode 3 introduces Moolissa the cow, and it is here that audiences see just how bizarre Bob's imagination can get, with him dreaming that the dead Moolissa is alive before making out with the cow.

Counter points/Problems[]

There are episodes where the Belcher boys interact with people outside the restaurant. If this is a hallucination, then either Bob is imagining their interactions beyond his personal narrative or everyone is indulging in Bob's fantasies, both of which are unlikely.

However, the theory has been popular enough for showrunner Loren Bouchard to address it. He understands the theory; however, he dismisses it, arguing that the show feels like a limbo because it is not episodic, so there is no time progression.
