This page lists fan theories about the television series My Little Pony.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic its Equestria Girls franchise are a great TV and movie series for kids. But what if some very dark secrets lurk within Equestria? Is Equestria really only the post-apocalyptic future of Equestria Girls? Is King Sombra truly still alive? Is Lyra possibly a secret villain?
This theory suggests that Equestria is really the post-apocalyptic future of Equestria Girls. Let's look at the evidence. During Lyra's song, she asks "Who's to say they're all gone?". To prove Equestria is a post-apocalyptic future, there needs to be old junk used by humans, ruins, and the powerful beings must know about this. For the unused items, there are saddles (for some reason), horse drawn carriages, mugs, printing press, cameras, other cups, and that one car tire in the dirt in one episode.
Nothing seems designed correctly for the autonomous use of ponies. So that's one thing for a post apocalyptic Equestria crossed off our list. Lots of ruins? Check. Well, not really. The only real major ruin is the Castle of the Two Sisters. Which, as we can see, was fine a thousand years ago, and there's really no telling how old Celestia really is. But that doesn't explain why she says Twilight will soon know more about the human world than even she does. Was she lying?
King Sombra is still alive[]
In The Crystal Empire Part 2, Spike returns the Crystal Heart so that it can save the citizens and the city from the shadows of King Sombra. King Sombra's entire body is affected by it's light and it shatters to pieces. Some fans theorized that he may still be living. He had not made any returns(not including his appearance in The Cutie Remark Part 1), until in The Beginning of the End Part 1, Grogar(who was Discord in disguise) casts a spell to resurrect King Sombra. He along with Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek, and Cozy Glow were told by Grogar to destroy the Mane 6's alliance by working together, but King Sombra refuses to listen and starts an apocalypse by mind controlling all whom the Mane 6 loved and cared about. Luckily the Mane 6 use the Elements of Harmony, but Sombra manages to escape and later destroys the elements and their Tree of Harmony. When all seems lost, the Mane 6 realize that their friendship was more stronger than their elements. With friendship the heroes successfully destroy King Sombra once again.
Sunset Shimmer is her own clone[]
In the worlds of Equestria and the human world of Equestria Girls, there are two clones that live in different worlds. When Princess Twilight Sparkle enters the human world, she meets the human counterparts of the Mane Six, including a human Twilight. Sunset Shimmer's human clone has never been seen or mentioned so she is perhaps the first pony from Equestria that may lack a clone. Otherwise her human clone, may no longer exist. In the human world, there are many inhabitants whose pony clones are never seen or mentioned throughout both franchises(not including their appearance in toy boxes or fan art).
Luna's life in the Moon[]
1,000 years before the Mane Six became the new guardians of the Elements of Harmony, Princess Luna transformed into Nightmare Moon and tried to destroy Celestia so that she could rule Equestria herself and with a night that never ends. However her plan fails and was banished to the moon for one thousand years. After her return in Equestria, Luna has never mentioned her life in the moon. She could've built her own home and her own little playmate, who may be Cozy Glow(since Cozy Glow's parents are never mentioned). In the start of the show, Nightmare Moon returned to Equestria in hopes she can succeed her revenge against her sister, but if Cozy Glow is NM's creation, she probably promised that they'll rule together or maybe that was a lie and NM wanted to abandon her just to return back to her original home and her sister(this may refer to Pink Diamond abandoning Spinel from Steven Universe). When the Mane 6 used their elements to reverse NM back to Luna, she probably lost her memories on Cozy Glow or just wanted her to replace her with Celestia.
Years later, Cozy Glow finds out that NM is no more and that she had forgotten her while making many new friends in Equestria. Making her jealous, Cozy Glow heads to Equestria to get revenge on Luna, Celestia, but mostly on her friends(again this is a reference to Spinel wanting to get revenge on Steven and his friends, but blaming it all on Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz, who is inactive).
Sour Sweet, Sugarcoat, and Sunny Flare are the Dazzlings in disguise[]
In Rainbow Rocks, the Dazzlings had failed on taking over magic with their singing voices. They lost against the Rainbooms and their amulets had broken off, making them unable to sing. As the Dazzlings try to sing, the audience boos at them and throws their treats on them. The trio runs away and had not been seen again since.
In Friendship Games, we are introduced with the human counterpart of Twilight Sparkle and her classmates the Shadowbolts including Lemon Zest, Indigo Zap, Sour Sweet, Sugarcoat, and Sunny Flare. Some fans believe that the three of them are actually the Dazzlings in disguise.
Sour Sweet[]
Sour Sweet has a close appearance to Sonata Dusk, since they both have straight hair and wear a high ponytail. Both act sweet and cheerful, but are also rude and have a rather villainous behavior towards their enemies including Twilight(pony and human), the Rainbooms, and the rest of CHS.
Sugarcoat[]
Sugarcoat might be Adagio Dazzle since they have a large amount of hair and are pretty serious and smart at the same time. They also have bad attitudes and talk in a grouchy tone.
Sunny Flare[]
Sunny Flare has a close resemblance to Aria Blaze since they both have purple, straight hair. The major difference is that Sunny's hair is short into a bob and Aria's is much longer and is worn in two ponytails. They do have similar personalities as in both being rude, selfish, grumpy, ungrateful, and competitive.
Sunset Shimmer is the adoptive daughter of Princess Celestia[]
Before Twilight, Sunset was the original pupil of Celestia. None of her parents have been mentioned so it's likely that Sunset has lived with Celestia when she was a filly and had been taught into the many skills of unicorn magic.
