Template:BE Template This article is about the BE video. For the book, see Neighborhood Animals (book).
Neighborhood Animals, also spelt as Baby Dolittle: Neighborhood Animals, Baby Einstein: Neighborhood Animals and Neighbourhood Animals in the UK, previously titled as Baby Dolittle: Neighborhood Animals before its late-2002 re-release, and also commonly known as just Baby Einstein: Neighborhood Animals before its mid-2003 re-release, is the 8th video to be released in the Baby Einstein series. It showcases 12 animals in the neighborhood in 4 habitats. It was released on May 15, 2001. It was later reissued twice during the Disney Merger Era, once on February 26, 2002 in which edited out the "Thank You" credit, and again on November 12, 2002 which was retitled as Baby Einstein: Neighborhood Animals and had the opening and closing credits (in white) style that would be used on all original videos in the Bronze Age, again in that era on August 5, 2003 (the same day Baby MacDonald was released), and later was sold as Neighborhood Animals in the Disney releases. It was later re-released sometime in 2004, with some alterations. It is a companion piece to World Animals.

Trivia[]
- The "Baby Dolittle" title was removed from this video, along with World Animals and the Animal Discovery Cards, due to a trademark lawsuit between The Baby Einstein Company and 20th Century Fox regarding the Doctor Dolittle series.[1]
- The Early 2001 VHS cover has Bluebird, but later, Stella The Cat would be shown on both the Mid 2001 VHS and DVD. Some copies of the VHS on the cover with the Bluebird have closing logos, but the copies of the VHS with Stella the Calico Cat do not contain closing logos.
- A brief musical snippet of Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, "Fate", Op. 67, 1st Movement is heard during the Mouse food fight puppet show after Violet Mouse shows up.
- On top of that, the Neighborhood Animals Soundtrack CDs that contain Contradance No. 2 by Ludwig van Beethoven as Track 9 instead of Flight of the Bumblebee by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. These CDs come with the Baby Dolittle Neighborhood Animals VHS, in which the age warning symbol says "1 to 4 years". On the VHS copies saying "Ages 1 and up", the CD contains Flight of the Bumblebee as Track 9 instead of Contradance No. 2, just like the 2002 Version of the Neighborhood Animals Soundtrack. But in the Neighborhood Animals Audio Sampler CD enclosed on the Late 2002 VHS, the CD is limited to the following music besides the Baby Einstein Theme, 1st Movement from Felix Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony, Flight of the Bumblebee by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, 2nd Movement from Antonín Dvořak's New World Symphony & Canon and Gigue in D Major by Johann Pachelbel. However, some copies of the Late 2002 VHS come with the Neighborhood Animals Soundtrack CD.
- The 2001-2002 DVD Concert Hall has music from the Neighborhood Animals Soundtrack CD (enclosed on the 2001 F.H.E. VHS with the age warning saying Ages 1 and up).
- This is the first appearance of Flip the Frog, Squirt The Pig in Legends & Lore form, Pavlov The Dog in Legends & Lore form, Violet Mouse, and Neighton the Horse in Legends & Lore form.
- This is the last appearance of Mia (footage of her was later reused in discovery kits).
- This video & Baby MacDonald were the basis of Animals Around Me.
- This is the first video to have classical music by Rimsky-Korsakov and Vivaldi.
- This is the only video to have classical music by Grofe, Scarlatti and Pachelbel. (not counting the Baby Neptune Aquarium Segment.)
- The Wind-Up Side-Stepping Frog was in Baby da Vinci and the toy chest in 2004 DVD release of Baby Newton, a recolored version of the Wooden Flying Cow was in Baby Galileo, Xylophone Playing Mouse was in World of Rhythm, and the Flipping Frog was in Baby's First Moves.
- This is the first video to be released in the 21st century.
- The footage of a baby sea lion walking on the beach (Getty Images) was reused in Baby Neptune, the footage of a hummingbird flying (Getty Images) was reused in Numbers Nursery, and the footage of a caterpillar crawling was reused in Baby's First Moves.
- The voice that says "Why?" during the bee joke scene is Julie Clark's voice.
- This video's also the first video that Julie Clark was credited as one of the puppeteers.
- The Czech VHS has the Warner Home Video logo.
- Neighborhood Animals was originally going to have the sections about the animals Hamster, Raccoon, Lizard, Chipmunk, Sheep, Chicken, Rooster, Goat, Donkey, Llama, Bull, Turkey, Beaver, Goose, Swan, and Salamander.
Goofs[]
- In the 2004 releases, the page transition from the "mouse" drawing to the "cat" drawing is blue, and the transition from the clip of Tyler playing with Joyful Puppy to the "cat" drawing is red unlike in 2001-2003 releases where it's white. The reason for this is unknown.
- In the original 2001 release, the Crystalite Cat Mobile and Dotty Ladybug clips were strangely exported in 29.97fps, but in the 2004 release, they were exported in the fixed 59.94fps.
- The first "mouse clip" in the Mouse music video (not counting the flashcard) is not footage of a mouse at all, but of a pika, an animal of the rabbit family.
- In the 2004 releases, the puppet show where Pavlov sees bird footprints and pops up inside the nest shows the light switch in the background. It is currently unknown why it was removed in the 2001-2004 releases and then oddly added back in 2004.
- During the bird music video on the 2001-2002 DVD releases, you can see some VHS flickers due to a very small issue with converting the master VHS file over to a DVD format.
- During the puppet show where Pavlov wears a Rabbit Ears Headband and hops around, Markie Scholz's head is visible for a brief second.
- The eighth "rabbit clip" in the Rabbit music video is footage of an Arctic hare.
- The Spain Toy Chest shows the Baby Newton Toy Chest.
- The Hebrew VHS has the US Warning Screen.
