We all know that all the characters in the show Spongebob Squarepants live under the island of Bikini Atoll, right?
Well, this may change your opinion on this. My theory is that they don't actually live under the Bikini Atoll.

In The first movie, David hasselholf swam from the mainland to near the actual island, but since he only swam there, it would have taken him multiple days to swim there, even at maximum speed. Then, in feral friends, patchy the pirate only rowed his rowboat for a little while. ANd If he did it manually until the real bikini atoll, it would take him many days non-stop. And last, in SBBB (or spongebob's big birthday blowout), rube takes the tour bus on a short road to upsy-daisy street, and the submarine only took them UP, not actually moving straight. And in the end, patchy uses a cannon to get their to drop Spongebob's Present. And even though they can go a long distance, Bikini attol is VERY far away. Even leaving from the closest point in North America(the closest continent to bikini atoll) , that leaves ove 4,000 miles of ocean to cross.
So i believe that they do not live near/under bikini attol, but an island at least a little closer to North America
